2012-12-03Use the new script to sort the includes of every file under lib.Chandler Carruth
Sooooo many of these had incorrect or strange main module includes. I have manually inspected all of these, and fixed the main module include to be the nearest plausible thing I could find. If you own or care about any of these source files, I encourage you to take some time and check that these edits were sensible. I can't have broken anything (I strictly added headers, and reordered them, never removed), but they may not be the headers you'd really like to identify as containing the API being implemented. Many forward declarations and missing includes were added to a header files to allow them to parse cleanly when included first. The main module rule does in fact have its merits. =] git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@169131 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2012-11-28Make the LiveRegMatrix analysis available to targets.Jakob Stoklund Olesen
No functional change, just moved header files. Targets can inject custom passes between register allocation and rewriting. This makes it possible to tweak the register allocation before rewriting, using the full global interference checking available from LiveRegMatrix. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@168806 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2012-02-04Don't store COPY pointers in VNInfo.Jakob Stoklund Olesen
If a value is defined by a COPY, that instuction can easily and cheaply be found by getInstructionFromIndex(VNI->def). 2011-11-13Rename SlotIndexes to match how they are used.Jakob Stoklund Olesen
The old naming scheme (load/use/def/store) can be traced back to an old linear scan article, but the names don't match how slots are actually used. The load and store slots are not needed after the deferred spill code insertion framework was deleted. The use and def slots don't make any sense because we are using half-open intervals as is customary in C code, but the names suggest closed intervals. In reality, these slots were used to distinguish early-clobber defs from normal defs. The new naming scheme also has 4 slots, but the names match how the slots are really used. This is a purely mechanical renaming, but some of the code makes a lot more sense now. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@144503 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2010-06-29Begin implementation of an inline spiller.Jakob Stoklund Olesen
InlineSpiller inserts loads and spills immediately instead of deferring to VirtRegMap. This is possible now because SlotIndexes allows instructions to be inserted and renumbered. This is work in progress, and is mostly a copy of TrivialSpiller so far. It works very well for functions that don't require spilling. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@107227 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2010-06-25Don't track kills in VNInfo. Use interval ends instead.Jakob Stoklund Olesen
The VNInfo.kills vector was almost unused except for all the code keeping it updated. The few places using it were easily rewritten to check for interval ends instead. The two new methods LiveInterval::killedAt and killedInRange are replacements. This brings us down to 3 independent data structures tracking kills. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@106905 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2009-12-22Changed slot index ranges for MachineBasicBlocks to be exclusive of endpoint.Lang Hames
This fixes an in-place update bug where code inserted at the end of basic blocks may not be covered by existing intervals which were live across the entire block. It is also consistent with the way ranges are specified for live intervals. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@91859 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-12-09Added a new "splitting" spiller.Lang Hames
When a call is placed to spill an interval this spiller will first try to break the interval up into its component values. Single value intervals and intervals which have already been split (or are the result of previous splits) are spilled by the default spiller. Splitting intervals as described above may improve the performance of generated code in some circumstances. This work is experimental however, and it still miscompiles many benchmarks. It's not recommended for general use yet. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@90951 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2009-11-19Added a new Spiller implementation which wraps ↵Lang Hames
LiveIntervals::addIntervalsForSpills. All spiller calls in RegAllocLinearScan now go through the new Spiller interface. The "-new-spill-framework" command line option has been removed. To use the trivial in-place spiller you should now pass "-spiller=trivial -rewriter=trivial". (Note the trivial spiller/rewriter are only meant to serve as examples of the new in-place modification work. Enabling them will yield terrible, though hopefully functional, code). git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@89311 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2009-11-03The Indexes Patch.Lang Hames
This introduces a new pass, SlotIndexes, which is responsible for numbering instructions for register allocation (and other clients). SlotIndexes numbering is designed to match the existing scheme, so this patch should not cause any changes in the generated code. For consistency, and to avoid naming confusion, LiveIndex has been renamed SlotIndex. The processImplicitDefs method of the LiveIntervals analysis has been moved into its own pass so that it can be run prior to SlotIndexes. This was necessary to match the existing numbering scheme. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@85979 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
