2009-12-18Switch the initialization required by return statements over to theDouglas Gregor
new InitializationSequence. This fixes some bugs (e.g., PR5808), changed some diagnostics, and caused more churn than expected. What's new: - InitializationSequence now has a "C conversion sequence" category and step kind, which falls back to - Changed the diagnostics for returns to always have the result type of the function first and the type of the expression second. CheckSingleAssignmentConstraints to peform checking in C. - Improved ASTs for initialization of return values. The ASTs now capture all of the temporaries we need to create, but intentionally do not bind the tempoary that is actually returned, so that it won't get destroyed twice. - Make sure to perform an (elidable!) copy of the class object that is returned from a class. - Fix copy elision in CodeGen to properly see through the subexpressions that occur with elidable copies. - Give "new" its own entity kind; as with return values and thrown objects, we don't bind the expression so we don't call a destructor for it. Note that, with this patch, I've broken returning move-only types in C++0x. 2009-12-15Update tests to use %clang_cc1 instead of 'clang-cc' or 'clang -cc1'.Daniel Dunbar
- This is designed to make it obvious that %clang_cc1 is a "test variable" which is substituted. 2009-10-13Improve diagnostics when the parser encounters a declarator with anDouglas Gregor
unknown type name, e.g., foo::bar x; when "bar" does not refer to a type in "foo". With this change, the parser now calls into the action to perform diagnostics and can try to recover by substituting in an appropriate type. 2009-05-14Implement explicit instantiations of member classes of class templates, e.g.,Douglas Gregor
template<typename T> struct X { struct Inner; }; template struct X<int>::Inner; This change is larger than it looks because it also fixes some a problem with nested-name-specifiers and tags. We weren't requiring the DeclContext associated with the scope specifier of a tag to be complete. Therefore, when looking for something like "struct X<int>::Inner", we weren't instantiating X<int>. This, naturally, uncovered a problem with member pointers, where we were requiring the left-hand side of a member pointer access expression (e.g., x->*) to be a complete type. However, this is wrong: the semantics of this expression does not require a complete type (EDG agrees). Stuart vouched for me. 2009-03-19Introduce a representation for types that we referred to via aDouglas Gregor
qualified name, e.g., foo::x so that we retain the nested-name-specifier as written in the source code and can reproduce that qualified name when printing the types back (e.g., in diagnostics). This is PR3493, which won't be complete until finished the other tasks mentioned near the end of this commit. The parser's representation of nested-name-specifiers, CXXScopeSpec, is now a bit fatter, because it needs to contain the scopes that precede each '::' and keep track of whether the global scoping operator '::' was at the beginning. For example, we need to keep track of the leading '::', 'foo', and 'bar' in ::foo::bar::x The Action's CXXScopeTy * is no longer a DeclContext *. It's now the opaque version of the new NestedNameSpecifier, which contains a single component of a nested-name-specifier (either a DeclContext * or a Type *, bitmangled). The new sugar type QualifiedNameType composes a sequence of NestedNameSpecifiers with a representation of the type we're actually referring to. At present, we only build QualifiedNameType nodes within Sema::getTypeName. This will be extended to other type-constructing actions (e.g., ActOnClassTemplateId). Also on the way: QualifiedDeclRefExprs will also store a sequence of NestedNameSpecifiers, so that we can print out the property nested-name-specifier.
