2013-03-12Revert the test moves from 176733. Use "REQUIRES: asserts" instead.Jan Wen Voung

2013-03-08Disable statistics on Release builds and move tests that depend on -stats.Jan Wen Voung
Summary: Statistics are still available in Release+Asserts (any +Asserts builds), and stats can also be turned on with LLVM_ENABLE_STATS. Move some of the FastISel stats that were moved under DEBUG() back out of DEBUG(), since stats are disabled across the board now. Many tests depend on grepping "-stats" output. Move those into a orig_dir/Stats/. so that they can be marked as unsupported when building without statistics. 2013-01-01Tests: rewrite 'opt ... %s' to 'opt ... < %s' so that opt does not emit a ↵Dmitri Gribenko
ModuleID This is done to avoid odd test failures, like the one fixed in r171243. While there, FileCheck'ize tests. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@171344 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2012-07-02Convert the uses of '|&' to use '2>&1 |' instead, which works on oldChandler Carruth
versions of Bash. In addition, I can back out the change to the lit built-in shell test runner to support this. This should fix the majority of fallout on Darwin, but I suspect there will be a few straggling issues. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@159544 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2012-07-02Convert all tests using TCL-style quoting to use shell-style quoting.Chandler Carruth
This was done through the aid of a terrible Perl creation. I will not paste any of the horrors here. Suffice to say, it require multiple staged rounds of replacements, state carried between, and a few nested-construct-parsing hacks that I'm not proud of. It happens, by luck, to be able to deal with all the TCL-quoting patterns in evidence in the LLVM test suite. If anyone is maintaining large out-of-tree test trees, feel free to poke me and I'll send you the steps I used to convert things, as well as answer any painful questions etc. IRC works best for this type of thing I find. Once converted, switch the LLVM lit config to use ShTests the same as Clang. In addition to being able to delete large amounts of Python code from 'lit', this will also simplify the entire test suite and some of lit's architecture. Finally, the test suite runs 33% faster on Linux now. ;] For my 16-hardware-thread (2x 4-core xeon e5520): 36s -> 24s git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@159525 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2010-05-01revert r102831. We already delete dead readonly calls inChris Lattner
other places, killing a valid transformation is not the right answer. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@102850 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2010-05-01Disable the call-deletion transformation introduced in r86975. WithoutOwen Anderson
halting analysis, it is illegal to delete a call to a read-only function. The correct solution is almost certainly to add a "must halt" attribute and only allow deletions in its presence. XFAIL the relevant testcase for now. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@102831 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-11-12implement a nice little efficiency hack in the inliner. Since we're nowChris Lattner
running IPSCCP early, and we run functionattrs interlaced with the inliner, we often (particularly for small or noop functions) completely propagate all of the information about a call to its call site in IPSSCP (making a call dead) and functionattrs is smart enough to realize that the function is readonly (because it is interlaced with inliner). To improve compile time and make the inliner threshold more accurate, realize that we don't have to inline dead readonly function calls. Instead, just delete the call. This happens all the time for C++ codes, here are some counters from opt/llvm-ld counting the number of times calls were deleted vs inlined on various apps: Tramp3d opt: 5033 inline - Number of call sites deleted, not inlined 24596 inline - Number of functions inlined llvm-ld: 667 inline - Number of functions deleted because all callers found 699 inline - Number of functions inlined 483.xalancbmk opt: 8096 inline - Number of call sites deleted, not inlined 62528 inline - Number of functions inlined llvm-ld: 217 inline - Number of allocas merged together 2158 inline - Number of functions inlined 471.omnetpp: 331 inline - Number of call sites deleted, not inlined 8981 inline - Number of functions inlined llvm-ld: 171 inline - Number of functions deleted because all callers found 629 inline - Number of functions inlined Deleting a call is much faster than inlining it, and is insensitive to the size of the callee. :) git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@86975 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
