s/ParamAttr/Attribute/g s/PAList/AttrList/g s/FnAttributeWithIndex/AttributeWithIndex/g s/FnAttr/Attribute/g This sets the stage - to implement function notes as function attributes and - to distinguish between function attributes and return value attributes. This requires corresponding changes in llvm-gcc and clang. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@56622 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

commit. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@55865 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2008-09-05Delete the removeCallEdgeTo callgraph method,Duncan Sands
because it does not maintain a correct list of callsites. I discovered (see following commit) that the inliner will create a wrong callgraph if it is fed a callgraph with correct edges but incorrect callsites. These were created by Prune-EH, and while it wasn't done via removeCallEdgeTo, it could have been done via removeCallEdgeTo, which is an accident waiting to happen. Use removeCallEdgeFor instead. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@55859 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2008-08-17Rename some GC classes so that their roll will hopefully be clearer.Gordon Henriksen
In particular, Collector was confusing to implementors. Several thought that this compile-time class was the place to implement their runtime GC heap. Of course, it doesn't even exist at runtime. Specifically, the renames are: Collector -> GCStrategy CollectorMetadata -> GCFunctionInfo CollectorModuleMetadata -> GCModuleInfo CollectorRegistry -> GCRegistry Function::getCollector -> getGC (setGC, hasGC, clearGC) Several accessors and nested types have also been renamed to be consistent. These changes should be obvious. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@54899 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2008-07-23Enable first-class aggregates support.Dan Gohman
Remove the GetResultInst instruction. It is still accepted in LLVM assembly and bitcode, where it is now auto-upgraded to ExtractValueInst. Also, remove support for return instructions with multiple values. These are auto-upgraded to use InsertValueInst instructions. The IRBuilder still accepts multiple-value returns, and auto-upgrades them to InsertValueInst instructions. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@53941 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2007-12-25GC poses hazards to the inliner. Consider:Gordon Henriksen
define void @f() { ... call i32 @g() ... } define void @g() { ... } The hazards are: - @f and @g have GC, but they differ GC. Inlining is invalid. This may never occur. - @f has no GC, but @g does. g's GC must be propagated to @f. The other scenarios are safe: - @f and @g have the same GC. - @f and @g have no GC. - @g has no GC. This patch adds inliner checks for the former two scenarios. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@45351 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-12-19When inlining through an 'nounwind' call, mark inlinedDuncan Sands

2007-12-17Make invokes of inline asm legal. Teach codegenDuncan Sands
how to lower them (with no attempt made to be efficient, since they should only occur for unoptimized code). git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@45108 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-12-17Change the PointerType api for creating pointer types. The old functionality ↵Christopher Lamb
of PointerType::get() has become PointerType::getUnqual(), which returns a pointer in the generic address space. The new prototype of PointerType::get() requires both a type and an address space. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@45082 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-12-16Revert this part of r45073 until the verifier isDuncan Sands

2007-12-16Make instcombine promote inline asm calls to 'nounwind'Duncan Sands
calls. Remove special casing of inline asm from the inliner. There is a potential problem: the verifier rejects invokes of inline asm (not sure why). If an asm call is not marked "nounwind" in some .ll, and instcombine is not run, but the inliner is run, then an illegal module will be created. This is bad but I'm not sure what the best approach is. I'm tempted to remove the check in the verifier... git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@45073 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-12-03Rather than having special rules like "intrinsics cannotDuncan Sands
