2009-07-14Have asm printers use formatted_raw_ostream directly to avoid aDavid Greene
dynamic_cast<>. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@75670 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-07-14Mark as fall through.Bill Wendling
git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@75652 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-07-14Reapply my previous asmprinter changes now with more testing and two Chris Lattner
additional bug fixes: 1. The bug that everyone hit was a problem in the asmprinter where it would remove $stub but keep the L prefix on a name when emitting the indirect symbol. This is easy to fix by keeping the name of the stub and the name of the symbol in a StringMap instead of just keeping a StringSet and trying to reconstruct it late. 2. There was a problem printing the personality function. The current logic to print out the personality function from the DWARF information is a bit of a cesspool right now that duplicates a bunch of other logic in the asm printer. The short version of it is that it depends on emitting both the L and _ prefix for symbols (at least on darwin) and until I can untangle it, it is best to switch the mangler back to emitting both prefixes. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@75646 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-07-14llvm_unreachable->llvm_unreachable(0), LLVM_UNREACHABLE->llvm_unreachable.Torok Edwin
This adds location info for all llvm_unreachable calls (which is a macro now) in !NDEBUG builds. In NDEBUG builds location info and the message is off (it only prints "UREACHABLE executed"). git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@75640 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2009-07-11assert(0) -> LLVM_UNREACHABLE.Torok Edwin
Make llvm_unreachable take an optional string, thus moving the cerr<< out of line. LLVM_UNREACHABLE is now a simple wrapper that makes the message go away for NDEBUG builds. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@75379 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-06-23Provide InitializeAllTargets and InitializeNativeTarget functions in theBob Wilson
C bindings. Change all the backend "Initialize" functions to have C linkage. Change the "llvm/Config/Targets.def" header to use C-style comments to avoid compile warnings. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@74026 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-06-16Introduce new headers whose inclusion forces linking andDouglas Gregor
initialization of all targets (InitializeAllTargets.h) or assembler printers (InitializeAllAsmPrinters.h). This is a step toward the elimination of relinked object files, so that we can build normal archives. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@73543 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-06-04Split the Add, Sub, and Mul instruction opcodes into separateDan Gohman
integer and floating-point opcodes, introducing FAdd, FSub, and FMul. For now, the AsmParser, BitcodeReader, and IRBuilder all preserve backwards compatability, and the Core LLVM APIs preserve backwards compatibility for IR producers. Most front-ends won't need to change immediately. This implements the first step of the plan outlined here: http://nondot.org/sabre/LLVMNotes/IntegerOverflow.txt git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@72897 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-05-09Rename PaddedSize to AllocSize, in the hope that thisDuncan Sands

2009-04-29Instead of passing in an unsigned value for the optimization level, use an enum,Bill Wendling
which better identifies what the optimization is doing. And is more flexible for future uses. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@70440 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2009-04-29Second attempt:Bill Wendling
Massive check in. This changes the "-fast" flag to "-O#" in llc. If you want to use the old behavior, the flag is -O0. This change allows for finer-grained control over which optimizations are run at different -O levels. Most of this work was pretty mechanical. The majority of the fixes came from verifying that a "fast" variable wasn't used anymore. The JIT still uses a "Fast" flag. I'll change the JIT with a follow-up patch. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@70343 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2008-11-15Adds extern "C" ints to the .cpp files that use RegisterTarget, asOscar Fuentes
well as 2 files that use "Registrator"s. These are to be used by the MSVC builds, as the Win32 linker does not include libs that are otherwise unreferenced, even if global constructors in the lib have side-effects. 2008-10-14Fix command-line option printing to print two spaces where needed,Dan Gohman

s/ParamAttr/Attribute/g s/PAList/AttrList/g s/FnAttributeWithIndex/AttributeWithIndex/g s/FnAttr/Attribute/g This sets the stage - to implement function notes as function attributes and - to distinguish between function attributes and return value attributes. 2008-08-17Rename some GC classes so that their roll will hopefully be clearer.Gordon Henriksen
In particular, Collector was confusing to implementors. Several thought that this compile-time class was the place to implement their runtime GC heap. Of course, it doesn't even exist at runtime. Specifically, the renames are: Collector -> GCStrategy CollectorMetadata -> GCFunctionInfo CollectorModuleMetadata -> GCModuleInfo CollectorRegistry -> GCRegistry Function::getCollector -> getGC (setGC, hasGC, clearGC) Several accessors and nested types have also been renamed to be consistent. These changes should be obvious. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@54899 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2008-01-07Enabling the target-independent garbage collection infrastructure by hooking itGordon Henriksen
up to the various compiler pipelines. This doesn't actually add support for any GC algorithms, which means it temporarily breaks a few tests. To be fixed shortly. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@45669 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

2007-12-17Change the PointerType api for creating pointer types. The old functionality ↵Christopher Lamb
of PointerType::get() has become PointerType::getUnqual(), which returns a pointer in the generic address space. The new prototype of PointerType::get() requires both a type and an address space. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@45082 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-12-03Rather than having special rules like "intrinsics cannotDuncan Sands
throw exceptions", just mark intrinsics with the nounwind attribute. Likewise, mark intrinsics as readnone/readonly and get rid of special aliasing logic (which didn't use anything more than this anyway). git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@44544 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-11-28Add some convenience methods for querying attributes, andDuncan Sands
use them. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@44403 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-11-27Fix PR1146: parameter attributes are longer part ofDuncan Sands
the function type, instead they belong to functions and function calls. This is an updated and slightly corrected version of Reid Spencer's original patch. The only known problem is that auto-upgrading of bitcode files doesn't seem to work properly (see test/Bitcode/AutoUpgradeIntrinsics.ll). Hopefully a bitcode guru (who might that be? :) ) will fix it. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@44359 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-11-05Eliminate the remaining uses of getTypeSize. ThisDuncan Sands
should only effect x86 when using long double. Now 12/16 bytes are output for long double globals (the exact amount depends on the alignment). This brings globals in line with the rest of LLVM: the space reserved for an object is now always the ABI size. One tricky point is that only 10 bytes should be output for long double if it is a field in a packed struct, which is the reason for the additional argument to EmitGlobalConstant. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@43688 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-09-12Revise previous patch per review comments.Dale Johannesen
Next round of x87 long double stuff. Getting close now, basically works. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@41875 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-09-11Add APInt interfaces to APFloat (allows directlyDale Johannesen
access to bits). Use them in place of float and double interfaces where appropriate. First bits of x86 long double constants handling (untested, probably does not work). git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@41858 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
2007-09-06Next round of APFloat changes.Dale Johannesen
Use APFloat in UpgradeParser and AsmParser. Change all references to ConstantFP to use the APFloat interface rather than double. Remove the ConstantFP double interfaces. Use APFloat functions for constant folding arithmetic and comparisons. (There are still way too many places APFloat is just a wrapper around host float/double, but we're getting there.) git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@41747 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
