2013-01-03ALSA: hda - Fix the wrong pincaps set in ALC861VD dallas/hp fixupTakashi Iwai
commit b78562b10fa66175e30b76073e32a0ad8d92aa83 upstream. The workaround to force VREF50 for dallas/hp model with ALC861VD was introduced in commit 8fdcb6fe4204bdb4c6991652717ab5063751414e, but it contained wrong pincap override bits. This patch fixes to exclude VREF80 pincap bit correctly. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <ben@decadent.org.uk>
2013-01-03ALSA: hda - Always turn on pins for HDMI/DPTakashi Iwai
commit 6169b673618bf0b2518ce413b54925782a603f06 upstream. We've seen the broken HDMI *video* output on some machines with GM965, and the debugging session pointed that the culprit is the disabled audio output pins. Toggling these pins dynamically on demand caused flickering of HDMI TV. This patch changes the behavior to keep the pin ON constantly. commit af02dde8a609d8d071c4b31a82df811a55690a4a upstream. We found a new codec ID 292, and that just a simple quirk would enable sound output/input on this ALC292 chip. 2012-11-16ALSA: hda - Fix invalid connections in VT1802 codecTakashi Iwai
commit ef4da45828603df57e5e21b8aa21a66ce309f79b upstream. VT1802 codec provides the invalid connection lists of NID 0x24 and 0x33 containing the routes to a non-exist widget 0x3e. This confuses the auto-parser. Fix it up in the driver by overriding these connections. 2012-11-16ALSA: hda - Fix empty DAC filling in patch_via.cTakashi Iwai
commit 5b3761954dac2d1393beef8210eb8cee81d16b8d upstream. In via_auto_fill_adc_nids(), the parser tries to fill dac_nids[] at the point of the current line-out (i). When no valid path is found for this output, this results in dac = 0, thus it creates a hole in dac_nids[]. This confuses is_empty_dac() and trims the detected DAC in later reference. This patch fixes the bug by appending DAC properly to dac_nids[] in via_auto_fill_adc_nids(). Several bug reports suggest that the forcibly resetting IEC958 status bits is required for AD codecs to get the SPDIF output working properly after changing streams. 2012-09-19ALSA: hda - Fix Oops at codec reset/reconfigTakashi Iwai
commit 07dc59f0988cb54fd87bd373b3b27eb2401dd811 upstream. snd_hda_codec_reset() calls restore_pincfgs() where the codec is powered up again, which eventually tries to resume and initialize via the callbacks of the codec. However, it's the place just after codec free callback, thus no codec callbacks should be called after that. On a codec like CS4206, it results in Oops due to the access in init callback. This patch fixes the issue by clearing the codec callbacks properly after freeing codec. 2012-08-10ALSA: hda - Fix invalid D3 of headphone DAC on VT202x codecsTakashi Iwai
commit 6162552b0de6ba80937c3dd53e084967851cd199 upstream. We've got a bug report about the silent output from the headphone on a mobo with VT2021, and spotted out that this was because of the wrong D3 state on the DAC for the headphone output. The bug is triggered by the incomplete check for this DAC in set_widgets_power_state_vt1718S(). It checks only the connectivity of the primary output (0x27) but doesn't consider the path from the headphone pin (0x28). Now this patch fixes the problem by checking both pins for DAC 0x0b. 2012-07-12ALSA: hda - Fix power-map regression for HP dv6 & coTakashi Iwai
commit 6e1c39c6b00d9141a82c231ba7c5e5b1716974b2 upstream. The recent fix for power-map controls (commit b0791dda813) caused regressions on some other HP laptops. They have fixed pins but these pins are exposed as jack-detectable. Thus the driver tries to control the power-map dynamically per jack detection where it never gets on. 2012-06-19ALSA: hda - Add codec->no_jack_detect flagTakashi Iwai
commit 71b1e9e43d5199f57c109e20c0f4dffc5c048130 upstream. Add a new flag to indicate that the codec has no jack-detection cap. This flag should be set for hardwares that have no jack-detect implementation although the codec chip itself supports it. 2012-05-20ALSA: hda/idt - Fix power-map for speaker-pins with some HP laptopsTakashi Iwai
commit b0791dda813c179e539b0fc1ecd3f5f30f2571e2 upstream. BIOS on some HP laptops don't set the speaker-pins as fixed but expose as jacks, and this confuses the driver as if these pins are jack-detectable. As a result, the machine doesn't get sounds from speakers because the driver prepares the power-map update via jack unsol events which never come up in reality. The bug was introduced in some time in 3.2 for enabling the power-mapping feature. This patch fixes the problem by replacing the check of the persistent power-map bits with a proper is_jack_detectable() call. 2012-05-20ALSA: HDA: Lessen CPU usage when waiting for chip to respondDavid Henningsson
commit 32cf4023e689ad5b3a81a749d8cc99d7f184cb99 upstream. When an IRQ for some reason gets lost, we wait up to a second using udelay, which is CPU intensive. This patch improves the situation by waiting about 30 ms in the CPU intensive mode, then stepping down to using msleep(2) instead. In essence, we trade some granularity in exchange for less CPU consumption when the waiting time is a bit longer. As a result, PulseAudio should no longer be killed by the kernel for taking up to much RT-prio CPU time. At least not for *this* reason. 2012-05-20ALSA: echoaudio: Remove incorrect part of assertionMark Hills
commit c914f55f7cdfafe9d7d5b248751902c7ab57691e upstream. This assertion seems to imply that chip->dsp_code_to_load is a pointer. It's actually an integer handle on the actual firmware, and 0 has no special meaning. The assertion prevents initialisation of a Darla20 card, but would also affect other models. It seems it was introduced in commit dd7b254d. ALSA sound/pci/echoaudio/echoaudio.c:2061 Echoaudio driver starting... 2012-05-11ALSA: HDA: Add external mic quirk for Asus Zenbook UX31EDavid Henningsson
commit 5ac57550f279c3d991ef0b398681bcaca18169f7 upstream. According to the reporter, external mic starts to work if the laptop-dmic model is used. According to BIOS pin config, all pins are consistent with the alc269vb_laptop_dmic fixup, except for the external mic, which is not present. 2012-05-11ALSA: hda/conexant - Set up the missing docking-station pinsTakashi Iwai
commit d70f363222ef373c2037412f09a600357cfa1c7a upstream. ThinkPad 410,420,510,520 and X201 with cx50585 & co chips have the docking-station ports, but BIOS doesn't initialize for these pins. Thus, like the former X200, we need to set up the pins manually in the driver. The odd part is that the same PCI SSID is used for X200 and T400, thus we need to prepare individual fixup tables for cx5051 and others.
