2011-04-30sound: oss: midi_synth: check get_user() return valueKulikov Vasiliy
commit b3390ceab95601afc12213c3ec5551d3bc7b638f upstream. get_user() may fail, if so return -EFAULT. Signed-off-by: Kulikov Vasiliy <segooon@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2011-04-30sound/oss: remove offset from load_patch callbacksDan Rosenberg
commit b769f49463711205d57286e64cf535ed4daf59e9 upstream. Was: [PATCH] sound/oss/midi_synth: prevent underflow, use of uninitialized value, and signedness issue The offset passed to midi_synth_load_patch() can be essentially arbitrary. If it's greater than the header length, this will result in a copy_from_user(dst, src, negative_val). While this will just return -EFAULT on x86, on other architectures this may cause memory corruption. Additionally, the length field of the sysex_info structure may not be initialized prior to its use. Finally, a signed comparison may result in an unintentionally large loop. On suggestion by Takashi Iwai, version two removes the offset argument from the load_patch callbacks entirely, which also resolves similar issues in opl3. Compile tested only. v3 adjusts comments and hopefully gets copy offsets right. 2011-04-30sound/oss/opl3: validate voice and channel indexesDan Rosenberg
commit 4d00135a680727f6c3be78f8befaac009030e4df upstream. User-controllable indexes for voice and channel values may cause reading and writing beyond the bounds of their respective arrays, leading to potentially exploitable memory corruption. Validate these indexes. Signed-off-by: Dan Rosenberg <drosenberg@vsecurity.com> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2011-02-09sound: Prevent buffer overflow in OSS load_mixer_volumesDan Rosenberg
commit d81a12bc29ae4038770e05dce4ab7f26fd5880fb upstream. The load_mixer_volumes() function, which can be triggered by unprivileged users via the SOUND_MIXER_SETLEVELS ioctl, is vulnerable to a buffer overflow. Because the provided "name" argument isn't guaranteed to be NULL terminated at the expected 32 bytes, it's possible to overflow past the end of the last element in the mixer_vols array. Further exploitation can result in an arbitrary kernel write (via subsequent calls to load_mixer_volumes()) leading to privilege escalation, or arbitrary kernel reads via get_mixer_levels(). In addition, the strcmp() may leak bytes beyond the mixer_vols array. Drivers that register a ->fault handler, but do not range-check the offset argument, must set VM_DONTEXPAND in the vm_flags in order to prevent an expanding mremap from overflowing the resource. 2007-07-17OSS trident: fix locking around write_voice_regsMuli Ben-Yehuda
trident_write_voice_regs() was getting called with the card spinlock held in only some cases. Fix it. Explanation: we allocate a new virtual channel in open, and then we frob some hardware registers (in write_voice_regs) for that channel. But the hardware registers are shared with other channels, which may be trying to frob the some registers (albeit for another channel) via ioctl(SNDCTL_DSP_SPEED). 2007-07-11PCI: Change all drivers to use pci_device->revisionAuke Kok
Instead of all drivers reading pci config space to get the revision ID, they can now use the pci_device->revision member. This exposes some issues where drivers where reading a word or a dword for the revision number, and adding useless error-handling around the read. Some drivers even just read it for no purpose of all. In devices where the revision ID is being copied over and used in what appears to be the equivalent of hotpath, I have left the copy code and the cached copy as not to influence the driver's performance. Compile tested with make all{yes,mod}config on x86_64 and i386.
