2013-08-05vfio: add external user supportAlexey Kardashevskiy
VFIO is designed to be used via ioctls on file descriptors returned by VFIO. However in some situations support for an external user is required. The first user is KVM on PPC64 (SPAPR TCE protocol) which is going to use the existing VFIO groups for exclusive access in real/virtual mode on a host to avoid passing map/unmap requests to the user space which would made things pretty slow. The protocol includes: 1. do normal VFIO init operation: - opening a new container; - attaching group(s) to it; - setting an IOMMU driver for a container. When IOMMU is set for a container, all groups in it are considered ready to use by an external user. 2. User space passes a group fd to an external user. The external user calls vfio_group_get_external_user() to verify that: - the group is initialized; - IOMMU is set for it. If both checks passed, vfio_group_get_external_user() increments the container user counter to prevent the VFIO group from disposal before KVM exits. 3. The external user calls vfio_external_user_iommu_id() to know an IOMMU ID. PPC64 KVM uses it to link logical bus number (LIOBN) with IOMMU ID. 4. When the external KVM finishes, it calls vfio_group_put_external_user() to release the VFIO group. This call decrements the container user counter. Everything gets released. The "vfio: Limit group opens" patch is also required for the consistency. Signed-off-by: Alexey Kardashevskiy <aik@ozlabs.ru> Signed-off-by: Alex Williamson <alex.williamson@redhat.com>
2013-08-05ASoC: dapm: Implement mixer input auto-disableLars-Peter Clausen
Some devices have the problem that if a internal audio signal source is disabled the output of the source becomes undefined or goes to a undesired state (E.g. DAC output goes to ground instead of VMID). In this case it is necessary, in order to avoid unwanted clicks and pops, to disable any mixer input the signal feeds into or to active a mute control along the path to the output. Often it is still desirable to expose the same mixer input control to userspace, so cerain paths can sill be disabled manually. This means we can not use conventional DAPM to manage the mixer input control. This patch implements a method for letting DAPM overwrite the state of a userspace visible control. I.e. DAPM will disable the control if the path on which the control sits becomes inactive. Userspace will then only see a cached copy of the controls state. Once DAPM powers the path up again it will sync the userspace setting with the hardware and give control back to userspace. To implement this a new widget type is introduced. One widget of this type will be created for each DAPM kcontrol which has the auto-disable feature enabled. For each path that is controlled by the kcontrol the widget will be connected to the source of that path. The new widget type behaves like a supply widget, which means it will power up if one of its sinks are powered up and will only power down if all of its sinks are powered down. In order to only have the mixer input enabled when the source signal is valid the new widget type will be disabled before all other widget types and only be enabled after all other widget types. E.g. consider the following simplified example. A DAC is connected to a mixer and the mixer has a control to enable or disable the signal from the DAC. +-------+ +-----+ | | | DAC |-----[Ctrl]-| Mixer | +-----+ : | | | : +-------+ | : +-------------+ | Ctrl widget | +-------------+ If the control has the auto-disable feature enabled we'll create a widget for the control. This widget is connected to the DAC as it is the source for the mixer input. If the DAC powers up the control widget powers up and if the DAC powers down the control widget is powered down. As long as the control widget is powered down the hardware input control is kept disabled and if it is enabled userspace can freely change the control's state. 2013-08-03fib_rules: fix suppressor names and default valuesStefan Tomanek
This change brings the suppressor attribute names into line; it also changes the data types to provide a more consistent interface. While -1 indicates that the suppressor is not enabled, values >= 0 for suppress_prefixlen or suppress_ifgroup reject routing decisions violating the constraint. This changes the previously presented behaviour of suppress_prefixlen, where a prefix length _less_ than the attribute value was rejected. After this change, a prefix length less than *or* equal to the value is considered a violation of the rule constraint. It also changes the default values for default and newly added rules (disabling any suppression for those). Signed-off-by: Stefan Tomanek <stefan.tomanek@wertarbyte.de> Signed-off-by: David S. 2013-08-02tracing: Fix fields of struct trace_iterator that are zeroed by mistakeAndrew Vagin
tracing_read_pipe zeros all fields bellow "seq". The declaration contains a comment about that, but it doesn't help. The first field is "snapshot", it's true when current open file is snapshot. Looks obvious, that it should not be zeroed. The second field is "started". It was converted from cpumask_t to cpumask_var_t (v2.6.28-4983-g4462344), in other words it was converted from cpumask to pointer on cpumask. Currently the reference on "started" memory is lost after the first read from tracing_read_pipe and a proper object will never be freed. The "started" is never dereferenced for trace_pipe, because trace_pipe can't have the TRACE_FILE_ANNOTATE options. 2013-08-02fbdev: simplefb: add init through platform_dataDavid Herrmann
If we create proper platform-devices in x86 boot-code, we can use simplefb for VBE or EFI framebuffers, too. However, there is normally no OF support so we introduce a platform_data object so x86 boot-code can pass the parameters via plain old platform-data. This also removes the OF dependency as it is not needed. The headers provide proper dummies for the case OF is disabled. Furthermore, we move the FORMAT-definitions to the common platform header so initialization code can use it to transform "struct screen_info" to the right format-name. 2013-08-02sctp: Don't lookup dst if transport dst is still validfan.du
When sctp sits on IPv6, sctp_transport_dst_check pass cookie as ZERO, as a result ip6_dst_check always fail out. This behaviour makes transport->dst useless, because every sctp_packet_transmit must look for valid dst. Add a dst_cookie into sctp_transport, and set the cookie whenever we get new dst for sctp_transport. So dst validness could be checked against it. This happens because fib6_run_gc() uses fib6_gc_lock to allow only one thread to run the garbage collector but ip6_dst_gc() doesn't update net->ipv6.ip6_rt_last_gc until fib6_run_gc() returns. On a system with many entries, this can take some time so that in the meantime, other threads pass the tests in ip6_dst_gc() (ip6_rt_last_gc is still not updated) and wait for the lock. They then have to run the garbage collector one after another which blocks them for quite long. Resolve this by replacing special value ~0UL of expire parameter to fib6_run_gc() by explicit "force" parameter to choose between spin_lock_bh() and spin_trylock_bh() and call fib6_run_gc() with force=false if gc_thresh is reached but not max_size. 2013-08-01net: add a temporary sanity check in skb_orphan()Eric Dumazet
David suggested to add a BUG_ON() to catch if some layer sets skb->sk pointer without a corresponding destructor. As skb can sit in a queue, it's mandatory to make sure the socket cannot disappear, and it's usually done by taking a reference on the socket, then releasing it from the skb destructor. This patch is a follow-up to commit c34a761231b5 ("net: skb_orphan() changes") and will be reverted after catching all possible offenders if any. 2013-08-01mac80211: add channel switch command and beacon callbacksSimon Wunderlich
The count field in CSA must be decremented with each beacon transmitted. This patch implements the functionality for drivers using ieee80211_beacon_get(). Other drivers must call back manually after reaching count == 0. This patch also contains the handling and finish worker for the channel switch command, and mac80211/chanctx code to allow to change a channel definition of an active channel context.
