The introduction of primary planes has apparently caused a bit of fb
refcounting fun for people. That makes it a good time to clean up the
arcane rules and slight differences between ->update_plane and
->set_config. The new rules are:
- The core holds a reference for both the new and the old fb (if
they're non-NULL of course) while calling into the driver through
either ->update_plane or ->set_config.
- Drivers may not clobber plane->fb if their callback fails. If they
do that, they need to store a pointer to the old fb in it again.
When calling into the driver plane->fb still points at the current
(old) framebuffer.
- The core will update the plane->fb pointer on success. Drivers can
do that themselves too, but aren't required to any more for the
primary plane.
- The core will update fb refcounts for the plane->fb pointer,
presuming the drivers hold up their end of the bargain.

the commit message a bit.
v4: Also fix up the handling of ->disable_plane in
drm_plane_force_disable. The issue was that we didn't save plane->fb
over the ->disable_plane call. Just paranoia, nothing relies on this.

The register address, width and flags are encoded as a 32-bit value. Add
macros for obtaining these separately. Use the macros in register access
functions.

Add a quirk for diverting registers for on some sensors, even the standard
registers are not where they can be expected to be found. Add a quirk to
to help using such sensors.
smiapp_write_no_quirk() and smiapp_read_no_quirk() functions are provided
for the use of quirk implementations.

I noticed a regression where the omap sys_clkreq signal will never
trigger for omap3 when booted with device tree while it triggers
when booted in legacy mode. This means voltage scaling does not
do anything when booted with device tree.
Turns out the reason is we fail to initialize the SmartReflex
enable bit in twl4030 with the following error:
twl: not initialized
And that happens because we are wrongly tinkering with the twl4030
registers in arch/arm/mach-omap2/omap_twl.c before the driver is
initialized. Looking at the the SmartReflex bit enable code in
omap_twl.c, we need to always set it.
So let's fix the issue by always enabling the twl4030 SmartReflex
bit in the drivers/mfd/twl-core.c probe, and drop the related
code in omap_twl.c.
Note that we still have some twl4030 tinkering left in omap_twl.c
for the twl6030 case, but that's a different patch.

The sub-device names should be unique. Should two identical sensors be
present in the same media device they would be indistinguishable. The names
will change e.g. from "vs6555 pixel array" to "vs6555 1-0010 pixel array".

8-bit reads are needed in some cases; however the condition used was wrong.
Regular access (register width) was used if:
len == SMIAPP_REG_8BIT && !only8
This causes 8-bit read access to be used always. The operator should be ||
instead: regular access can be used for 8-bit reads OR if allowed otherwise.

The quirk registers mechanism which allows register to have a static read
access value from the sensor specific quirks, is not used. Remove it. It is
to be replaced by a more generic register diversion quirk soon.

Since we set up device wake-up interrupts as pinctrl-single
interrupts, we now must use the standard request_irq and
related functions to manage them.
If the pin interrupts are enabled for some pins at boot,
the wake-up events can show up as constantly pending
at least on omaps and will hang the system unless the related
device driver clears the event at the device.
To fix this, let's clear the interrupt flags during init,
and print out a warning so the board maintainers can update
their drivers to do proper request_irq for the driver specific
wake-up events.

Implement support for the VSP1 DT bindings in the VSP1 driver. The
driver now first retrieves platform data either from the platform data
pointer or by reading the device tree node, and then validates it
regardless of the platform data source.

Scaling of the alpha layer is disabled as both the RPF and WPF are
configured to hardcode the alpha value to 255. This results in a 0 alpha
value at the UDS output, making the image invisible when alpha blended
in the BRU. Fix it by enabling scaling of the alpha layer.

The vb2 core ignores any return code from the stop_streaming op.
And there really isn't anything it can do anyway in case of an error.
So change the return type to void and update any drivers that implement it.
The int return gave drivers the idea that this operation could actually
fail, but that's really not the case.
The pwc amd sdr-msi3101 drivers both had this construction:
if (mutex_lock_interruptible(&s->v4l2_lock))
return -ERESTARTSYS;
This has been updated to just call mutex_lock(). The stop_streaming op
expects this to really stop streaming and I very much doubt this will
work reliably if stop_streaming just returns without really stopping the
DMA.

Add support for MAX77836 chipset and its additional two LDO regulators.
These LDO regulators are controlled by the PMIC block with additional
regmap (different I2C slave address).
The MAX77836 charger and safeout regulators are almost identical to
MAX14577. The registers layout is the same, except values for charger's
current. The patch adds simple mapping between device type and supported
current by the charger regulator.

is split up into two functions: max14577_parse_irq() and

Add Maxim 77836 support to max14577 driver. The chipsets have same MUIC
component so the extcon, charger and regulators are almost the same. The
MAX77836 however has also PMIC and Fuel Gauge.
The MAX77836 uses three I2C slave addresses and has additional interrupts
(related to PMIC and Fuel Gauge). It has also Interrupt Source register,
just like MAX77686 and MAX77693.
The MAX77836 PMIC's TOPSYS and INTSRC interrupts are reported in the
PMIC block. The PMIC block has different I2C slave address and uses own
regmap so another regmap_irq_chip is needed.
Since we have two regmap_irq_chip, use shared interrupts on MAX77836.
This patch adds additional defines and functions to the max14577 MFD core
driver so the driver will handle both chipsets. Also this patch replaces
"0x1 << N" with BIT(N) in defines for register masks.

This patch continues the preparation for adding support for MAX77836
device to existing max14577 driver.
Add enum for types of devices supported by this driver. The device type
will be detected by matching of_device_id, or i2c_device_id as a
fallback.
The patch also moves to separate function the code related to displaying
DeviceID register values.

External LNA between antenna connector and RF tuner is controlled
by EM28178 GPIO 0. GPIO value 1 is LNA active and value 0 is LNA
disabled.

DVB-C uses lower frequencies than DVB-T. Extend frequency range down to
110 MHz in order to support DVB-C. 110 - 862 MHz range is defined by
NorDig Unified 2.2 specification.

Nearly all of the registers in tps65090 combine control bits and
status bits. Turn off caching of all registers except the select few
that can be cached.
In order to avoid adding more duplicate #defines, we also move some
register offset definitions to the mfd driver (and resolve
inconsistent names).

If we weren't given an interrupt we shouldn't tell child devices (like
the tps65090 charger) that they have an interrupt. This is needed so
that we can support polling mode in the tps65090 charger driver.

irq).
