2006-12-07[PATCH] Trivial cleanup in the PCI IDs for the CS5535Jordan Crouse
Rename a poorly worded PCI ID for the Geode GX and CS5535 companion chips. The graphics processor and host bridge actually live in the northbridge on the integrated processor, not in the companion chip. 2006-07-10[PATCH] vt: Remove VT-specific declarations and definitions from tty.hJon Smirl
MAX_NR_CONSOLES, fg_console, want_console and last_console are more of a function of the VT layer than the TTY one. Moving these to vt.h and vt_kern.h allows all of the framebuffer and VT console drivers to remove their dependency on tty.h. 2006-06-26[PATCH] Detaching fbcon: remove calls to pci_disable_device()Antonino A. Daplas
Detaching fbcon allows individual drivers to be unloaded. However several drivers call pci_disable_device() upon exit. This function will disable the BAR's which will kill VGA text mode and/or affect X/DRM. To prevent this, remove calls to pci_disable_device() from several drivers. 2006-03-27[PATCH] fbdev: framebuffer driver for Geode GXDavid Vrabel
A framebuffer driver for the display controller in AMD Geode GX processors (Geode GX533, Geode GX500 etc.). Tested at 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024 at 8, 16, and 24 bpp with both CRT and TFT. No accelerated features currently implemented and compression remains disabled. This driver requires that the BIOS (or the SoftVG/Firmbase code in the BIOS) has created an appropriate virtual PCI header. 2006-01-14[PATCH] gx1fb: (try to) play nicer with various BIOSesDavid Vrabel
Seems that the CS5530A chip used in Geode GX1 systems has some crazy feature that causes SMI traps when accessing the PCI configuration space of the video device. Various GX1 BIOSes seem to use this 'feature' to hide the real BARs of the device. This patch disables these traps (in an early PCI fixup) so that Linux sees the real, physical BARs and not the virtual ones provided by the BIOS. This should allow the GX1 framebuffer driver to work on more systems that have different BIOSes as the driver no longer guesses at what the virtual BARs mean. I'm not entirely sure it the correct solution as I can neither test regular VGA console nor the X's 'cyrix' video driver so there might be some breakage there -- probably best to get some more testers before applying it. 2005-11-07[PATCH] fbcon/fbdev: Move softcursor out of fbdev to fbconAntonino A. Daplas
According to Jon Smirl, filling in the field fb_cursor with soft_cursor for drivers that do not support hardware cursors is redundant. The soft_cursor function is usable by all drivers because it is just a wrapper around fb_imageblit. And because soft_cursor is an fbcon-specific hook, the file is moved to the console directory. Thus, drivers that do not support hardware cursors can leave the fb_cursor field blank. For drivers that do, they can fill up this field with their own version. The end result is a smaller code size. And if the framebuffer console is not loaded, module/kernel size is also reduced because the soft_cursor module will also not be loaded. 2005-09-09[PATCH] more SPIN_LOCK_UNLOCKED -> DEFINE_SPINLOCK conversionsIngo Molnar
This converts the final 20 DEFINE_SPINLOCK holdouts. (another 580 places are already using DEFINE_SPINLOCK). Build tested on x86. Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2005-09-09[PATCH] fbdev: geode updatesDavid Vrabel
Geode framebuffer driver updates: - Local mode list (taken from modedb.c) containing only relevant modes. This also makes the driver work as a module. - Make it a PCI driver (from James Simmons <jsimmons@infradead.org>). - A few other minor cosmetic bits and pieces. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
