2010-08-10hsu: driver for Medfield High Speed UART deviceFeng Tang
This is a PCI & UART driver, which suppors both PIO and DMA mode UART operation. It has 3 identical UART ports and one internal DMA controller. Current FW will export 4 pci devices for hsu: 3 uart ports and 1 dma controller, each has one IRQ line. And we need to discuss the device model, one PCI device covering whole HSU should be a better model, but there is a problem of how to export the 4 IRQs info Current driver set the highest baud rate to 2746800bps, which is easy to scale down to 115200/230400.... To suport higher baud rate, we need add special process, change DLAB/DLH/PS/DIV/MUL registers all together. 921600 is the highest baud rate that has been tested with Bluetooth modem connected to HSU port 0. Will test more when there is right BT firmware. 2009-01-08serial: Add driver for the Cell Network Processor serial port NWP deviceBenjamin Krill
Add support for the nwp serial device which is connected to a DCR bus. It uses the of_serial device driver to determine necessary properties from the device tree. The supported device is added as serial port number 85. NWP stands for network processor and it is part of the QPACE - Quantum Chromodynamics Parallel Computing on the Cell Broadband Engine project. The implementation is a lightweight uart implementation with the focus to consume as little resources as possible and it is connected to a DCR bus. 2008-10-13serial: allow 8250 to be used on sparcDavid Miller
This requires three changes: 1) Remove !SPARC restriction in Kconfig. 2) Move Sparc specific serial drivers before 8250, so that serial console devices don't change names on us, even if 8250 finds devices. 3) Since the Sparc specific serial drivers try to use the same major/minor device namespace as 8250, some coordination is necessary. Use the sunserial_*() layer routines to allocate minor number space within TTY_MAJOR when CONFIG_SPARC. This has no effect on other platforms. 2007-07-18zs: move to the serial subsystemMaciej W. Rozycki
This is a reimplementation of the zs driver for the serial subsystem. Any resemblance to the old driver is purely coincidential. ;-) I do hope I got the handling of modem lines right -- better do not tackle me about the issue unless you feel too good... Any users of the old driver: please note the numbers of the serial lines have now been swapped, i.e. ttyS0 <-> ttyS1 and ttyS2 <-> ttyS3. It has to do with the modem lines mentioned above; basically the port A in a given chip has to be initialised before the port B if you want to use the latter as the serial console (which is usually the case), as operations on modem lines of the serial line associated with the port B access both ports (see the comment at the top of the driver for the details of wiring used). Please update your scripts. This is also the reason each SCC now requests an IRQ once only (as seen in "/proc/interrupts") -- the handler takes care of both ports at once as the line associated with the port B has to take status update interrupts from both ports (and yet the line of the port A takes its own for itself too). The old driver never got it right... Signed-off-by: Maciej W. Rozycki <macro@linux-mips.org> Cc: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2007-07-17sb1250-duart.c: SB1250 DUART serial supportMaciej W. Rozycki
This is a driver for the SB1250 DUART, a dual serial port implementation included in the Broadcom family of SOCs descending from the SiByte SB1250 MIPS64 chip multiprocessor. It is a new implementation replacing the old-fashioned driver currently present in the linux-mips.org tree. It supports all the usual features one would expect from a(n asynchronous) serial driver, including modem line control (as far as hardware supports it -- there is edge detection logic missing from the DCD and RI lines and the driver does not implement polling of these lines at the moment), the serial console, BREAK transmission and reception, including the magic SysRq. The receive FIFO threshold is not maintained though. The driver was tested with a SWARM board which uses a BCM1250 SOC (which is dual MIPS64 CMP) and has both ports of the single DUART implemented wired externally. Both were tested. Testing included using the ports as terminal lines at 1200bps (which is the ports minimum), 115200bps and a couple of random speeds inbetween. The modem lines were verified to operate correctly. No testing was performed with a use as a network interface, like with SLIP or PPP. Signed-off-by: Maciej W. 2007-02-14[POWERPC] Open Firmware serial port driverArnd Bergmann
This can be used for serial ports that are connected to an OF platform bus but are not autodetected by the lecacy serial support. It will automatically take over devices that come from the legacy serial detection, which usually is only one device. In some cases, rtas may be set up to use the serial port in the firmware, which allows easier debugging before probing the serial ports. In this case, the "used-by-rtas" property must be set by the firmware. This patch also adds code to the legacy serial driver to check for this. The two on-board serial UARTs were being detected along with the first two Exar UARTs. The last two Exar UARTs were not showing up and neither was the modem. 2005-06-27[PATCH] Serial: Split 8250 port tableRussell King
Add separate files for the different 8250 ISA-based serial boards. Looking across all the various architectures, it seems reasonable that we can key the availability of the configuration options for these beasts to the bus-related symbols (iow, CONFIG_ISA). We also standardise the base baud/uart clock rate for these boards - I'm sure that isn't architecture specific, but is solely dependent on the crystal fitted on the board (which should be the same no matter what type of machine its fitted into.)
