This patch restores a couple of workarounds from 2.6.16:
* restart transmit moderation timer in case it expires during IRQ routine
* default to having 10 HZ watchdog timer.
At this point it more important not to hang than to worry about the
power cost.

To assure the symmetry of poll enable/disable in up/down, we should
initialize the netdevice to be poll_disabled at load time. Doing
this after register_netdevice leaves us open to another race, so
lets move all the netif_* calls above register_netdevice so the
stack starts out how we expect it to be.

[IFB]: Fix crash on input device removal
The input_device pointer is not refcounted, which means the device may
disappear while packets are queued, causing a crash when ifb passes packets
with a stale skb->dev pointer to netif_rx().
Fix by storing the interface index instead and do a lookup where neccessary.

Some versions of the bcm43xx chips only support 30-bit DMA, which means
that the descriptors and buffers must be in the first 1 GB of RAM. On
the i386 and x86_64 architectures with more than 1 GB RAM, an incorrect
assignment may occur. This patch ensures that the various DMA addresses
are within the capability of the chip. Testing has been limited to x86_64
as no one has an i386 system with more than 1 GB RAM.

Correct assignment of DOT1XENABLE in WE-19 codepaths.
RX_UNENCRYPTED_EAPOL = 1 really means setting DOT1XENABLE _off_, and
vice versa. The original WE-19 patch erroneously reversed that. This
patch fixes association with unencrypted and WEP networks when using
wpa_supplicant.
It also adds two missing break statements that, left out, could result
in incorrect card configuration.
Applies to (I think) 2.6.19 and later.

This reverts commit 0c0b3ae68ec93b1db5c637d294647d1cca0df763.
Quoth David:
"Jeff, please revert
It's wrong. We had a lengthy analysis of this piece of code
several months ago, and it is correct.
Consider, if we run the loop and we get an error
the following happens:
1) attempt of ifb_init_one(i) fails, therefore we should
not try to "ifb_free_one()" on "i" since it failed
2) the loop iteration first increments "i", then it
check for error
Therefore we must decrement "i" twice before the first
free during the cleanup. One to "undo" the for() loop
increment, and one to "skip" the ifb_init_one() case which
failed."

This fixes the issue of frequent link changes under heavy traffic reported
below:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7696
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=216338
The b44 chip occasionally needs to be reset when ISTAT_ERRORS are
encountered. The reset sequence includes a PHY reset that will take many
seconds to complete and cause the link to go down and up. By skipping the
PHY reset, it will greatly reduce the interruption when ISTAT_ERRORS are
encountered.
Change the full_reset parameter to reset_kind parameter in b44_init_hw().
This will allow PHY reset to be skipped when ISTAT_ERRORS are encountered.
