2007-10-23mv643xx_eth: Merge drivers/net/mv643xx_eth.h into mv643xx_eth.cLennert Buytenhek
Since drivers/net/mv643xx_eth.c is the only user of drivers/net/mv643xx_eth.h, there's not much use in having the header file as a separate file, so merge the header into the driver. Signed-off-by: Lennert Buytenhek <buytenh@marvell.com> Signed-off-by: Dale Farnsworth <dale@farnsworth.org>
2007-10-23mv643xx_eth: Remove unused register definesLennert Buytenhek
Most of the register defines in drivers/net/mv643xx_eth.h aren't used at all. Nuke them -- we can always re-add them if/when we need them, and meanwhile, they unnecessarily clutter up the header file. 2007-10-23mv643xx_eth: Clean up mv643xx_eth.hLennert Buytenhek
Apply the following cleanups to drivers/net/mv643xx_eth.h: * Change "#define<tab>" to "#define<space>". * Fix comment block style. * Wrap lines to fit in 80 columns. * Change "foo<<1" to "foo << 1". * Align addresses in the same column. * Parenthesize macro arguments. * Replace "(1<<24) | (1<<23) | (1<<22)" type constructs with "(7 << 22)". 2007-10-23mv643xx_eth: Remove MV643XX_ETH_ register prefixLennert Buytenhek
Now that all register address and bit defines are in private namespace (drivers/net/mv643xx_eth.h), we can safely remove the MV643XX_ETH_ prefix to conserve horizontal space. 2007-10-23mv643xx_eth: Remove SHARED_REGS register address biasLennert Buytenhek
Start counting mv643xx_eth register addresses from zero, instead of from 0x2000 (MV643XX_ETH_SHARED_REGS.) Signed-off-by: Lennert Buytenhek <buytenh@marvell.com> Acked-by: Tzachi Perelstein <tzachi@marvell.com> Signed-off-by: Dale Farnsworth <dale@farnsworth.org>
2007-10-23mv643xx_eth: Disable RX/TX byte swapping on little-endian systemsLennert Buytenhek
On little-endian systems, configure the SDMA unit with MV643XX_ETH_BLM_RX_NO_SWAP and MV643XX_ETH_BLM_TX_NO_SWAP. Signed-off-by: Lennert Buytenhek <buytenh@marvell.com> Acked-by: Tzachi Perelstein <tzachi@marvell.com> Signed-off-by: Dale Farnsworth <dale@farnsworth.org>
2007-10-23mv643xx_eth: Move ethernet register definitions into private headerLennert Buytenhek
Move the mv643xx's ethernet-related register definitions from include/linux/mv643xx.h into drivers/net/mv643xx_eth.h, since they aren't of any use outside the ethernet driver. 2007-10-10[NET]: Make NAPI polling independent of struct net_device objects.Stephen Hemminger
Several devices have multiple independant RX queues per net device, and some have a single interrupt doorbell for several queues. In either case, it's easier to support layouts like that if the structure representing the poll is independant from the net device itself. The signature of the ->poll() call back goes from: int foo_poll(struct net_device *dev, int *budget) to int foo_poll(struct napi_struct *napi, int budget) The caller is returned the number of RX packets processed (or the number of "NAPI credits" consumed if you want to get abstract). The callee no longer messes around bumping dev->quota, *budget, etc. because that is all handled in the caller upon return. The napi_struct is to be embedded in the device driver private data structures. Furthermore, it is the driver's responsibility to disable all NAPI instances in it's ->stop() device close handler. Since the napi_struct is privatized into the driver's private data structures, only the driver knows how to get at all of the napi_struct instances it may have per-device. With lots of help and suggestions from Rusty Russell, Roland Dreier, Michael Chan, Jeff Garzik, and Jamal Hadi Salim. Bug fixes from Thomas Graf, Roland Dreier, Peter Zijlstra, Joseph Fannin, Scott Wood, Hans J. Koch, and Michael Chan. [ Ported to current tree and all drivers converted. Integrated Stephen's follow-on kerneldoc additions, and restored poll_list handling to the old style to fix mutual exclusion issues. -DaveM ] Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. 2007-09-29mv643xx_eth: Check ETH_INT_CAUSE_STATE bitDale Farnsworth
Commit 468d09f8946d40228c56de26fe4874b2f98067ed masked the "state" interrupt (bit 20 of the cause register). This results in Radstone's PPC7D repeatedly re-entering the interrupt routine, locking up the board. The following patch returns the required handling for this interrupt. 2007-04-28mv643xx_eth: make eth_port_uc_addr_{get,set}() calls symmetricGabriel Paubert
There is no good reason for the asymmetry in the parameters of eth_port_uc_addr_get() and eth_port_uc_addr_set(). Make them symmetric. Remove some gratuitous block comments while we're here. 2007-02-27Alignment in mv643xx_ethRalf Baechle
The driver contains this little piece of candy: #if defined(CONFIG_DMA_NONCOHERENT) || defined(CONFIG_NOT_COHERENT_CACHE) #define ETH_DMA_ALIGN L1_CACHE_BYTES #else #define ETH_DMA_ALIGN 8 #endif Any reason why we're not using dma_get_cache_alignment() instead? 2006-03-03[PATCH] mv643xx_eth: Refactor tx command queuing codeDale Farnsworth
Simplify and remove redundant code for filling transmit descriptors. No changes in features; it's just a code reorganization/cleanup. Signed-off-by: Dale Farnsworth <dale@farnsworth.org> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jeff@garzik.org>
2006-01-27[PATCH] mv643xx_eth: Clean up platform_data configurationDale Farnsworth
We shouldn't expose the hardware register contents in platform_data. The only things we allow the user to configure are autoneg, speed, and duplex. Add specific platform_data fields for these values and remove the registers configs. Signed-off-by: Dale Farnsworth <dale@farnsworth.org> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@pobox.com>
2006-01-27[PATCH] mv643xx_eth: use MII library for PHY managementJames Chapman
Modify link up/down handling to use the functions from the MII library. Note that I track link state using the MII PHY registers rather than the mv643xx chip's link state registers because I think it's cleaner to use the MII library code rather than writing local driver support code. It is also useful to make the actual MII registers available to the user with maskable kernel printk messages so the MII registers are being read anyway Signed-off-by: James Chapman <jchapman@katalix.com> Signed-off-by: Dale Farnsworth <dale@farnsworth.org> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@pobox.com>
2006-01-27[PATCH] mv643xx_eth: Rename mp->tx_ring_skbs to mp->tx_desc_countDale Farnsworth
tx_ring_skbs is actually a count of tx descriptors currently in use. Since there may be multiple descriptors per skb, it is not the same as the number of skbs in the ring. Also change rx_ring_skbs to rx_desc_count to be consistent. Signed-off-by: Dale Farnsworth <dale@farnsworth.org> Signed-off-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@pobox.com>
2006-01-27[PATCH] mv643xx_eth: Merge unicast and multicast address filtering codeDale Farnsworth

2006-01-27[PATCH] mv643xx_eth: Remove needless mp->port_mac_addrDale Farnsworth

2005-11-09[PATCH] changing CONFIG_LOCALVERSION rebuilds too much, for no good reasonOlaf Hering
This patch removes almost all inclusions of linux/version.h. The 3 #defines are unused in most of the touched files. A few drivers use the simple KERNEL_VERSION(a,b,c) macro, which is unfortunatly in linux/version.h. There are also lots of #ifdef for long obsolete kernels, this was not touched. In a few places, the linux/version.h include was move to where the LINUX_VERSION_CODE was used. quilt vi `find * -type f -name "*.[ch]"|xargs grep -El '(UTS_RELEASE|LINUX_VERSION_CODE|KERNEL_VERSION|linux/version.h)'|grep -Ev '(/(boot|coda|drm)/|~$)'` search pattern: /UTS_RELEASE\|LINUX_VERSION_CODE\|KERNEL_VERSION\|linux\/\(utsname\|version\).h Signed-off-by: Olaf Hering <olh@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2005-09-05[PATCH] mv643xx: Fix promiscuous mode handlingDale Farnsworth
mv643xx_eth_get_config_reg() was reading the wrong register. mv643xx_eth_set_config_reg() was or'ing instead of setting the register. These functions are trivial and both are called only from mv643xx_eth_set_rx_mode() when changing to/from promiscuous mode. Remove both functions and do the operations directly in mv643xx_eth_set_rx_mode(). Also, maintain promiscuous mode setting across port resets. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
