2014-04-14media: saa7164: fix return value check in saa7164_initdev()Wei Yongjun
commit 89f4d45b2752df5d222b5f63919ce59e2d8afaf4 upstream. In case of error, the function kthread_run() returns ERR_PTR() and never returns NULL. The NULL test in the return value check should be replaced with IS_ERR(). 2014-04-14media: hdpvr: fix iteration over uninitialized lists in hdpvr_probe()Alexey Khoroshilov
commit 2e923a0527ac439e135b9961e58d3acd876bba10 upstream. free_buff_list and rec_buff_list are initialized in the middle of hdpvr_probe(), but if something bad happens before that, error handling code calls hdpvr_delete(), which contains iteration over the lists (via hdpvr_free_buffers()). The patch moves the lists initialization to the beginning and by the way fixes goto label in error handling of registering videodev. Found by Linux Driver Verification project (linuxtesting.org). 2014-04-14media: omap_vout: find_vma() needs ->mmap_sem heldAl Viro
commit 55ee64b30a38d688232e5eb2860467dddc493573 upstream. Walking rbtree while it's modified is a Bad Idea(tm); besides, the result of find_vma() can be freed just as it's getting returned to caller. Fortunately, it's easy to fix - just take ->mmap_sem a bit earlier (and don't bother with find_vma() at all if virtp >= PAGE_OFFSET - in that case we don't even look at its result). While we are at it, what prevents VIDIOC_PREPARE_BUF calling v4l_prepare_buf() -> (e.g) vb2_ioctl_prepare_buf() -> vb2_prepare_buf() -> __buf_prepare() -> __qbuf_userptr() -> vb2_vmalloc_get_userptr() -> find_vma(), AFAICS without having taken ->mmap_sem anywhere in process? The code flow is bloody convoluted and depends on a bunch of things done by initialization, so I certainly might've missed something... 2014-04-14media: v4l: Reset subdev v4l2_dev field to NULL if registration failsLaurent Pinchart
commit 317efce991620adc589b3005b9baed433dcb2a56 upstream. When subdev registration fails the subdev v4l2_dev field is left to a non-NULL value. Later calls to v4l2_device_unregister_subdev() will consider the subdev as registered and will module_put() the subdev module without any matching module_get(). Fix this by setting the subdev v4l2_dev field to NULL in v4l2_device_register_subdev() when the function fails. 2012-09-14uvcvideo: Reset the bytesused field when recycling an erroneous bufferJayakrishnan Memana
commit 8a3f0ede2b3f5477122060af1a816c6bbf09fcd2 upstream. Buffers marked as erroneous are recycled immediately by the driver if the nodrop module parameter isn't set. The buffer payload size is reset to 0, but the buffer bytesused field isn't. This results in the buffer being immediately considered as complete, leading to an infinite loop in interrupt context. Fix the problem by resetting the bytesused field when recycling the buffer. 2012-07-19media: cx231xx: don't DMA to random addressesDavid Dillow
commit a7deca6fa79d5c65575532e780f3c93f6bf8ddad upstream. Commit 7a6f6c29d264cdd2fe0eb3d923217eed5f0ad134 (cx231xx: use URB_NO_TRANSFER_DMA_MAP) was intended to avoid mapping the DMA buffer for URB twice. This works for the URBs allocated with usb_alloc_urb(), as those are allocated from cohernent DMA pools, but the flag was also added for the VBI and audio URBs, which have a manually allocated area. This leaves the random trash in the structure after allocation as the DMA address, corrupting memory and preventing VBI and audio from working. Letting the USB core map the buffers solves the problem. user-space If multiple clients are registered on a single camera host interface, the user-space hot-plug software can try to access the one, that probed first, before probing of the second one has completed. This can be handled by individual host drivers, but it is even better to hold back the user-space until all the probing on this host has completed. This occurs very frequently when using the webcam with the flash browser plugin. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system Pull "Disintegrate and delete asm/system.h" from David Howells: "Here are a bunch of patches to disintegrate asm/system.h into a set of separate bits to relieve the problem of circular inclusion dependencies. I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can and made sure that they don't break. The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2(). This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h. The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg. memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()). These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces: (1) asm/barrier.h Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha. (2) asm/switch_to.h Move switch_to() and related stuff here. (3) asm/exec.h Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h. (4) asm/cmpxchg.h Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg(). (5) asm/bug.h Move die() and related bits. (6) asm/auxvec.h Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here. Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis." Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat weakened by that. 2012-03-19[media] em28xx: support for 2304:0242 PCTV QuatroStick (510e)Ivan Kalvachev
It is mostly copy/paste of the 520e code with setting GPIO7 removed (no LED light). I've worked on just released vanilla linux-3.3.0 kernel, so there may be 1/2 lines offset to the internal working source, but most of the code should apply cleanly. I was able to get the DVB-C working (tuned and watched TV). Haven't tested DVB-T (no signal atm). Special thanks to everybody who worked on the code and to Antti Palosaari and Devin Heitmueller who provided essential support on irc.
