2012-08-15[media] rename most media/video usb drivers to media/usbMauro Carvalho Chehab
Rename all USB drivers with their own directory under drivers/media/video into drivers/media/usb and update the building system. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2012-07-05[media] media: Remove VIDEO_MEDIA Kconfig optionMauro Carvalho Chehab
In the past, it was possible to have either DVB or V4L2 core as module and the other as builtin. Such config never make much sense, and created several issues in order to make the Kconfig dependency to work, as all drivers that depend on both (most TV drivers) would need to be compiled as 'm'. Due to that, the VIDEO_MEDIA config option were added. Instead of such weird approach, let's just use the MEDIA_SUPPORT =y or =m to select if the media subsystem core will be either builtin or module, simplifying the building system logic. Also, fix the tuners configuration, by enabling them only if a tuner is required. So, if just webcam/grabbers support is selected, no tuner option will be selected. Also, if only digital TV is selected, no analog tuner support is selected. That removes the need of using EXPERT customise options, when analog TV is not selected. 2009-03-30V4L/DVB (11127): Kconfig: replace all occurrences of CUSTOMIZE to CUSTOMISEMauro Carvalho Chehab
There are several Kconfig items using CUSTOMIZE. Yet, most use the English writing CUSTOMISE. This generates lots of trouble, because people sometimes type the Kbuild item different. Let's standardise every occurrence using the same syntax. The changes were generated by this small shell script: for i in `find linux -type f`; do sed s,CUSTOMIZE,CUSTOMISE,g $i >/tmp/a && mv /tmp/a $i; done Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>

2009-03-30V4L/DVB (10838): get rid of the other occurrences of DVB_FE_CUSTOMIZE typoMauro Carvalho Chehab
There are still more places where DVB_FE_CUSTOMIZE is used, instead of DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2009-03-30V4L/DVB (10836): Kconfig: replace DVB_FE_CUSTOMIZE to DVB_FE_CUSTOMISEMauro Carvalho Chehab
The name of the option is DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE. However, on a few places, a wrong name were used, due to a typo (DVB_FE_CUSTOMIZE). Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@redhat.com>
2008-12-16V4L/DVB (9885): drivers/media Kconfig's: fix bugzilla #12204Mauro Carvalho Chehab
When the tuner modules were moved to common/tuners, a separate customize option were added for tuners. However, the automatic selection of the tuners were still using the older option. This causes that the automatic selection to fail, if DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE is selected. Also, since those tuners are now under MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE menu, if you unset MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE, you can't manually select the tuners. This patch fixes this error by replacing DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE by MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE on all places were a tuner is selected. The patch were generated by this small script: for i in `find drivers/media -name Kconfig`; do cat $i|perl -ne 's/(MEDIA_TUNER.*)DVB_FE_CUSTOMISE/\1MEDIA_TUNER_CUSTOMIZE/; print $_' >a mv a $i done Also, manually reordered the tuner entries. After commit d9b19199e4894089456aaad295023263b5225c1a (always enable FW_LOADER unless EMBEDDED=y) we can remove the FW_LOADER select's and corresponding dependencies on HOTPLUG. Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
2008-05-14V4L/DVB (7900): pvrusb: Fix Kconfig if DVB=m V4L_core=yMauro Carvalho Chehab
As reported by Ingo Molnar: x86.git testing found the following build failure: drivers/built-in.o: In function `pvr2_dvb_feed_thread': pvrusb2-dvb.c:(.text+0x127e78): undefined reference to `dvb_dmx_swfilter' drivers/built-in.o: In function `pvr2_dvb_adapter_exit': pvrusb2-dvb.c:(.text+0x128357): undefined reference to `dvb_net_release' pvrusb2-dvb.c:(.text+0x12836f): undefined reference to `dvb_dmxdev_release' [...] with this config: CONFIG_VIDEO_PVRUSB2=y CONFIG_DVB_CORE=m i.e. pvrusb2 is built-in, dvb-core is modular. 2008-05-14V4L/DVB (7851): Fix FW_LOADER depencency at v4l/dvbMauro Carvalho Chehab
Since: 1) FW_LOADER is defined as: config FW_LOADER tristate "Userspace firmware loading support" depends on HOTPLUG 2) several V4L/DVB driver just selects it; 3) select is not smart enough to auto-select HOTPLUG, if select FW_LOADER. So, All drivers that select FW_LOADER should also depend on HOTPLUG. An easier solution (for the end-user perspective) would be to "select HOTPLUG". However, live is not simple. This would cause recursive dependency issues like this one: drivers/usb/Kconfig:62:error: found recursive dependency: USB -> USB_OHCI_HCD -> I2C -> MEDIA_TUNER -> MEDIA_TUNER_XC2028 -> HOTPLUG -> PCCARD -> PCMCIA -> USB_ARCH_HAS_HCD -> MOUSE_APPLETOUCH -> USB Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
2008-05-14V4L/DVB (7846): Re-creates VIDEO_TUNERMauro Carvalho Chehab
VIDEO_TUNER is responsible for compilation of tuners.ko module. This were the previous behaviour before the creation of MEDIA_TUNER. Before this patch, tuner.ko were created even for drivers that don't need a tuner (like webcam drivers). Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>

This was a build option in the past, to avoid conflicts with the cxusb module for digital televsion support. Now that dtv mode support has been merged into pvrusb2, the OnAir devices are fully supported by this single module. This no longer should be a build option. 2006-09-26V4L/DVB (4518): Allow manually selecting the proper helper driversMauro Carvalho Chehab
There are several boards on V4L that can work with several different helper modules for audio/video encoding/decoding and similar stuff. This patch adds the capability of choicing between autoselecting the pertinent helper modules for each driver, or to manually selecting them. 2006-06-27V4L/DVB (4228a): pvrusb2 to kernel 2.6.18Mike Isely
Implement V4L2 driver for the Hauppauge PVR USB2 TV tuner. The Hauppauge PVR USB2 is a USB connected TV tuner with an embedded cx23416 hardware MPEG2 encoder. There are two major variants of this device; this driver handles both. Any V4L2 application which understands MPEG2 video stream data should be able to work with this device.
