2013-02-22i2c: Remove unneeded xxx_set_drvdata(..., NULL) callsDoug Anderson
There is simply no reason to be manually setting the private driver data to NULL in the remove/fail to probe cases. This is just extra cruft code that can be removed. A few notes: * Nothing relies on drvdata being set to NULL. * The __device_release_driver() function eventually calls dev_set_drvdata(dev, NULL) anyway, so there's no need to do it twice. * I verified that there were no cases where xxx_get_drvdata() was being called in these drivers and checking for / relying on the NULL return value. This could be cleaned up kernel-wide but for now just take the baby step and remove from the i2c subsystem. 2012-12-22i2c: remove __dev* attributes from subsystemBill Pemberton
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. Remove use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit. 2012-07-12i2c-puv3: Use struct dev_pm_ops for power managementRafael J. Wysocki
Make the PKUnity-v3 SoC I2C controller driver define its suspend callback through a struct dev_pm_ops object rather than by using a legacy PM hook in struct platform_driver. The empty resume callback is not necessary, so remove it. Signed-off-by: Rafael J. 2012-01-10i2c-puv3: using module_platform_driver()Guan Xuetao
This patch converts the driver to use the module_platform_driver() macro which makes the code smaller and a bit simpler. Signed-off-by: Axel Lin <axel.lin@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Guan Xuetao <gxt@mprc.pku.edu.cn>

change from original version -- by advice of Jean Delvare 1. remove global variable i2c_reg, replaced by local variables 2. replace ENXIO with ENODEV when no platform resources 3. add adapter->nr assignment before i2c_add_numbered_adapter() call 4. add judgement for i2c_del_adapter() return value 5. release adapter when driver removed 6. add __devexit for puv3_i2c_remove() function 7. modify several names to more appropriated ones Signed-off-by: Guan Xuetao <gxt@mprc.pku.edu.cn> Acked-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>
