2013-04-05tile: expect new initramfs name from hypervisor file systemChris Metcalf
commit ff7f3efb9abf986f4ecd8793a9593f7ca4d6431a upstream. The current Tilera boot infrastructure now provides the initramfs to Linux as a Tilera-hypervisor file named "initramfs", rather than "initramfs.cpio.gz", as before. (This makes it reasonable to use other compression techniques than gzip on the file without having to worry about the name causing confusion.) Adapt to use the new name, but also fall back to checking for the old name. Cc'ing to stable so that older kernels will remain compatible with newer Tilera boot infrastructure. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cmetcalf/linux-tile Pull arch/tile bug fixes from Chris Metcalf: "This includes Paul Gortmaker's change to fix the <asm/system.h> disintegration issues on tile, a fix to unbreak the tilepro ethernet driver, and a backlog of bugfix-only changes from internal Tilera development over the last few months. They have all been to LKML and on linux-next for the last few days. The EDAC change to MAINTAINERS is an oddity but discussion on the linux-edac list suggested I ask you to pull that change through my tree since they don't have a tree to pull edac changes from at the moment." * 'stable' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cmetcalf/linux-tile: (39 commits) drivers/net/ethernet/tile: fix netdev_alloc_skb() bombing MAINTAINERS: update EDAC information tilepro ethernet driver: fix a few minor issues tile-srom.c driver: minor code cleanup edac: say "TILEGx" not "TILEPro" for the tilegx edac driver arch/tile: avoid accidentally unmasking NMI-type interrupt accidentally arch/tile: remove bogus performance optimization arch/tile: return SIGBUS for addresses that are unaligned AND invalid arch/tile: fix finv_buffer_remote() for tilegx arch/tile: use atomic exchange in arch_write_unlock() arch/tile: stop mentioning the "kvm" subdirectory arch/tile: export the page_home() function. arch/tile: fix pointer cast in cacheflush.c arch/tile: fix single-stepping over swint1 instructions on tilegx arch/tile: implement panic_smp_self_stop() arch/tile: add "nop" after "nap" to help GX idle power draw arch/tile: use proper memparse() for "maxmem" options arch/tile: fix up locking in pgtable.c slightly arch/tile: don't leak kernel memory when we unload modules arch/tile: fix bug in delay_backoff() ...
2012-04-02arch/tile: use proper memparse() for "maxmem" optionsChris Metcalf
This is more standard and avoids having to remember what units the options actually take. Signed-off-by: Chris Metcalf <cmetcalf@tilera.com>

Not associated with any code changes, so I'm just lumping these comment changes into a commit by themselves. Signed-off-by: Chris Metcalf <cmetcalf@tilera.com>

2011-06-10treewide: Convert uses of struct resource to resource_size(ptr)Joe Perches
Several fixes as well where the +1 was missing. Done via coccinelle scripts like: @@ struct resource *ptr; @@ - ptr->end - ptr->start + 1 + resource_size(ptr) and some grep and typing. 2011-03-10arch/tile: support 4KB page size as well as 64KBChris Metcalf
The Tilera architecture traditionally supports 64KB page sizes to improve TLB utilization and improve performance when the hardware is being used primarily to run a single application. For more generic server scenarios, it can be beneficial to run with 4KB page sizes, so this commit allows that to be specified (by modifying the arch/tile/include/hv/pagesize.h header). As part of this change, we also re-worked the PTE management slightly so that PTE writes all go through a __set_pte() function where we can do some additional validation. The set_pte_order() function was eliminated since the "order" argument wasn't being used. One bug uncovered was in the PCI DMA code, which wasn't properly flushing the specified range. This was benign with 64KB pages, but with 4KB pages we were getting some larger flushes wrong. The per-cpu memory reservation code also needed updating to conform with the newer percpu stuff; before it always chose 64KB, and that was always correct, but with 4KB granularity we now have to pay closer attention and reserve the amount of memory that will be requested when the percpu code starts allocating. 2010-11-24arch/tile: make glibc's sysconf(_SC_NPROCESSORS_CONF) work correctlyChris Metcalf
glibc assumes that it can count /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu* to get the number of configured cpus. For this to be valid on tile, we need to generate a "cpu" entry for all cpus, including the ones that are not currently allocated for Linux's use. Signed-off-by: Chris Metcalf <cmetcalf@tilera.com>

2010-07-06arch/tile: Miscellaneous cleanup changes.Chris Metcalf
This commit is primarily changes caused by reviewing "sparse" and "checkpatch" output on our sources, so is somewhat noisy, since things like "printk() -> pr_err()" (or whatever) throughout the codebase tend to get tedious to read. Rather than trying to tease apart precisely which things changed due to which type of code review, this commit includes various cleanups in the code: - sparse: Add declarations in headers for globals. - sparse: Fix __user annotations. - sparse: Using gfp_t consistently instead of int. - sparse: removing functions not actually used. - checkpatch: Clean up printk() warnings by using pr_info(), etc.; also avoid partial-line printks except in bootup code. - checkpatch: Use exposed structs rather than typedefs. - checkpatch: Change some C99 comments to C89 comments. In addition, a couple of minor other changes are rolled in to this commit: - Add support for a "raise" instruction to cause SIGFPE, etc., to be raised. - Remove some compat code that is unnecessary when we fully eliminate some of the deprecated syscalls from the generic syscall ABI. - Update the tile_defconfig to reflect current config contents. 2010-06-04arch/tile: core support for Tilera 32-bit chips.Chris Metcalf
This change is the core kernel support for TILEPro and TILE64 chips. No driver support (except the console driver) is included yet. This includes the relevant Linux headers in asm/; the low-level low-level "Tile architecture" headers in arch/, which are shared with the hypervisor, etc., and are build-system agnostic; and the relevant hypervisor headers in hv/.
