This patch fixes following error (for big kernels): ---8<--- arch/avr32/boot/u-boot/head.o: In function `no_tag_table': (.init.text+0x44): relocation truncated to fit: R_AVR32_22H_PCREL against symbol `panic' defined in .text.unlikely section in kernel/built-in.o arch/avr32/kernel/built-in.o: In function `bad_return': (.ex.text+0x236): relocation truncated to fit: R_AVR32_22H_PCREL against symbol `panic' defined in .text.unlikely section in kernel/built-in.o --->8--- It comes up when the kernel increases and 'panic()' is too far away to fit in the +/- 2MiB range. Which in turn issues from the 21-bit displacement in 'br{cond4}' mnemonic which is one of the two ways to do jumps (rjmp has just 10-bit displacement and therefore a way smaller range). This fact was stated before in 8d29b7b9f81d6b83d869ff054e6c189d6da73f1f. One solution to solve this is to add a local storage for the symbol address and just load the $pc with that value. 2013-05-30mmc: at91/avr32/atmel-mci: fix DMA-channel leak on module unloadJohan Hovold

Fix regression introduced by commit 796211b7953 ("mmc: atmel-mci: add pdc support and runtime capabilities detection") which removed the need for CONFIG_MMC_ATMELMCI_DMA but kept the Kconfig-entry as well as the compile guards around dma_release_channel() in remove(). Consequently, DMA is always enabled (if supported), but the DMA-channel is not released on module unload unless the DMA-config option is selected. Remove the no longer used CONFIG_MMC_ATMELMCI_DMA option completely. Currently atmel_nand driver used by AT91 and AVR32 calls a special callback which return nand partition table and number of partitions. However in all boards this callback returns just static data. 2011-08-03Add Kconfig option ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHGHuang Ying
cmpxchg() is widely used by lockless code, including NMI-safe lockless code. But on some architectures, the cmpxchg() implementation is not NMI-safe, on these architectures the lockless code may need a spin_trylock_irqsave() based implementation. This patch adds a Kconfig option: ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG, so that NMI-safe lockless code can depend on it or provide different implementation according to it. On many architectures, cmpxchg is only NMI-safe for several specific operand sizes. So, ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG define in this patch only guarantees cmpxchg is NMI-safe for sizeof(unsigned long). 2011-07-26atomic: cleanup asm-generic atomic*.h inclusionArun Sharma
After changing all consumers of atomics to include <linux/atomic.h>, we ran into some compile time errors due to this dependency chain: linux/atomic.h -> asm/atomic.h -> asm-generic/atomic-long.h where atomic-long.h could use funcs defined later in linux/atomic.h without a prototype. This patches moves the code that includes asm-generic/atomic*.h to linux/atomic.h. Archs that need <asm-generic/atomic64.h> need to select CONFIG_GENERIC_ATOMIC64 from now on (some of them used to include it unconditionally). Compile tested on i386 and x86_64 with allnoconfig. 2011-07-22asm-generic: move archictures to common delay.hJonas Bonn
This patch moves the in-tree architectures that were using the 'generic' delay.h over to using the header file in asm-generic. This is not done using the generic-y mechanism as none of these arch's have started using that mechanism yet. This is a trivial change to make later when the arch begins using generic-y. Note the subtle change to the avr32 and SH architectures where the argument to __const_udelay was previously using the rounded down constant value instead of the rounded up value. 32bit and 64bit on x86 are tested and working. The rest I have looked at closely and I can't find any problems. setns is an easy system call to wire up. It just takes two ints so I don't expect any weird architecture porting problems. While doing this I have noticed that we have some architectures that are very slow to get new system calls. cris seems to be the slowest where the last system calls wired up were preadv and pwritev. avr32 is weird in that recvmmsg was wired up but never declared in unistd.h. frv is behind with perf_event_open being the last syscall wired up. On h8300 the last system call wired up was epoll_wait. On m32r the last system call wired up was fallocate. mn10300 has recvmmsg as the last system call wired up. The ATAG_BOARDINFO is intended to hand over the information bd->bi_board_number from u-boot to the kernel. This piece of information can be used to implement some kind of board identification while booting the kernel. Therefore it is placed in .initdata section and can be accessed via the new symbol board_number only while initializing the kernel. platform_get_irq returns -ENXIO on failure, so !int_irq was probably always true. Better use (int)int_irq <= 0. Note that a return value of zero is still handled as error even though this could mean irq0. This is a followup to 305b3228f9ff4d59f49e6d34a7034d44ee8ce2f0 that changed the return value of platform_get_irq from 0 to -ENXIO on error. 2011-04-13avr32: init cannot ignore signals sent by force_sig_info()Matt Fleming
We can delete the code that checks to see if we're sending an ignored signal to init because force_sig_info() already handles this case. force_sig_info() will kill init even if the signal handler is SIG_DFL and the scenario described in the comment where init might "generate the same exception over and over again" cannot occur (force_sig_info() clears SIGNAL_UNKILLABLE to ensure that init will die). Also, the use of is_global_init() is not correct in the multhreaded case, as Oleg Nesterov explains, "is_global_init() is not right in theory, /sbin/init can be multithreaded. And, this doesn't cover the sub-namespace inits... I'd suggest to check SIGNAL_UNKILLABLE, but looking closer I think you can simply remove this code." It seems this code was copied from arch/powerpc in March 2007 in commit 623b0355d5b1 "[AVR32] Clean up exception handling code" but the code was deleted from arch/powerpc in November 2009 in commit a0592d42fe3e "powerpc: kill the obsolete code under is_global_init()" So catch up with powerpc and delete the bogus code.
