2010-08-04Documentation: update broken web addresses.Justin P. Mattock
Below you will find an updated version from the original series bunching all patches into one big patch updating broken web addresses that are located in Documentation/* Some of the addresses date as far far back as 1995 etc... so searching became a bit difficult, the best way to deal with these is to use web.archive.org to locate these addresses that are outdated. Now there are also some addresses pointing to .spec files some are located, but some(after searching on the companies site)where still no where to be found. In this case I just changed the address to the company site this way the users can contact the company and they can locate them for the users. Signed-off-by: Justin P. 2009-06-18LinuxPPS: core supportRodolfo Giometti
This patch adds the kernel side of the PPS support currently named "LinuxPPS". PPS means "pulse per second" and a PPS source is just a device which provides a high precision signal each second so that an application can use it to adjust system clock time. Common use is the combination of the NTPD as userland program with a GPS receiver as PPS source to obtain a wallclock-time with sub-millisecond synchronisation to UTC. To obtain this goal the userland programs shoud use the PPS API specification (RFC 2783 - Pulse-Per-Second API for UNIX-like Operating Systems, Version 1.0) which in part is implemented by this patch. It provides a set of chars devices, one per PPS source, which can be used to get the time signal. The RFC's functions can be implemented by accessing to these char devices. 2008-07-16IDE: Report errors during drive reset back to user spaceElias Oltmanns
Make sure that each error condition during the execution of an HDIO_DRIVE_RESET ioctl is actually reported to the calling process. Also, unify the exit path of reset_pollfunc() when returning ide_stopped since the need of ->port_ops->reset_poll() to be treated specially has vanished (way back, it seems). 2006-11-30Fix typos in /Documentation : 'U-Z'Matt LaPlante
This patch fixes typos in various Documentation txts. The patch addresses some +words starting with the letters 'U-Z'. 2006-10-03Fix "can not" in Documentation and KconfigMatt LaPlante
Randy brought it to my attention that in proper english "can not" should always be written "cannot". I donot see any reason to argue, even if I mightnot understand why this rule exists. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
