2007-12-16Make instcombine promote inline asm calls to 'nounwind'Duncan Sands
calls. Remove special casing of inline asm from the inliner. There is a potential problem: the verifier rejects invokes of inline asm (not sure why). If an asm call is not marked "nounwind" in some .ll, and instcombine is not run, but the inliner is run, then an illegal module will be created. This is bad but I'm not sure what the best approach is. 2007-12-11Implement address space attribute for LLVM pointer types. Address spaces are Christopher Lamb
regions of memory that have a target specific relationship, as described in the Embedded C Technical Report. This also implements the 2007-12-11-AddressSpaces test, which demonstrates how address space attributes can be used in LLVM IR. In addition, this patch changes the bitcode signature for stores (in a backwards compatible manner), such that the pointer type, rather than the pointee type, is encoded. This permits type information in the pointer (e.g. address space) to be preserved for stores. the function type, instead they belong to functions and function calls. This is an updated and slightly corrected version of Reid Spencer's original patch. The only known problem is that auto-upgrading of bitcode files doesn't seem to work properly (see test/Bitcode/AutoUpgradeIntrinsics.ll). Implement the arbitrary bit-width integer feature. The feature allows integers of any bitwidth (up to 64) to be defined instead of just 1, 8, 16, 32, and 64 bit integers. This change does several things: 1. Introduces a new Derived Type, IntegerType, to represent the number of bits in an integer. The Type classes SubclassData field is used to store the number of bits. This allows 2^23 bits in an integer type. 2. Removes the five integer Type::TypeID values for the 1, 8, 16, 32 and 64-bit integers. These are replaced with just IntegerType which is not a primitive any more. 3. Adjust the rest of LLVM to account for this change. Note that while this incremental change lays the foundation for arbitrary bit-width integers, LLVM has not yet been converted to actually deal with them in any significant way. Most optimization passes, for example, will still only deal with the byte-width integer types.
